I’m not very good at keeping my word. I know.

But this is the truth : I only have two or three chapters of Sin left to write, so this long road is coming to its end fairly soon. Chapters will still be posted up as best as I can, but don’t carry your hopes up that it’ll be everyday.

Possible, but not likely.

A new chapter WILL be  up tomorrow afternoon (GMT +8) but the day after that is anyone’s guess. But I know this story will be done and over with in a week or so.

The reason I’ve been taking so long to write is still college. Also this story doesn’t quite motivate me as much anymore. I began with no clear end in sight and I wrote it very very vaguely.

Because of this, the quality suffered a lot. And I really do mean a lot. And now because of that, there is no motivation to create beauty in the sense that I’m used to. I’m stuck in this style of writing, simply because prior chapter demotivate me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud that I wrote this novella as an aside. I don’t often do projects that go on for more than 5000 words. So to be achieving this is still something I’m glad of.

I may not quite like the style, and there are bits where the plot is so weak, your pinkie could poke a hole in it, but I do like this side project for what it could have been and what it is, as a story in and of itself.

I believe I may be uploading complete PDFs of Dark Moon and The Tale of Liam and Kate at some point in the future. I don’t think I can do it as blog posts, the sheering editing for italics would bore me to no end. That’s also why, you may notice that Sin uses little to no use of italics of any kind in its chapters.

But either way, keep an eye on this blog. Things will be ending soon. And after that, who knows? Maybe I’ll write an entire story before I post again, heh.

Cheers!

— Randy.

I apologize.

I am no good at keeping promises and after this, you will never want to read a thing I write.

But this is my final promise for Sin — the end is nigh.

Chapter 14 of Sin will be up at noon today (GMT+8). And Chapter 15 until 19 will follow as well on their respective days, as I’ve managed to finish writing those as well.

You can ask me why I went AWOL for 9 days but suffice it to say that readjusting to college life and struggling with college forms is not the best to help get your brain juices flowing.

But I have a four day break now and I plan on finishing Sin by Sunday. And then, hopefully it will be done and it will just be a matter of posting, which will be no problem.

Also, due to underwhelming response to the blog, I will be discontinuing the Dark Moon series until such a time when it more lax for me to continue posting.

Cheers (of a kind where I can see the beginning of the end),

— Randy.

First day back in college.

Happiness is what floods through me. Gone are days of blistering myself with the boredom of my bedroom. I am back in Kuala Lumpur, where long walks will take place and friends will be made and met.

This coming week is orientation so I can still rest my mind before I put down to the grinder and start learning and studying and revising. I’m actually really glad for this. My mind wasn’t made for laziness. It was made to be sculpted and shaped by knowledge. It was made to be challenged by nigh on impossible feats of memorisation. It was made to soar, not crawl in a bed and die.

Finally, finally, it will be able to do just that.

On another note, upon checking into my hostel, I found the the remnants of my room’s last occupant’s stay. There were cards (four Jokers, sorry DC) and a pair of sunglasses, Vitamin C (still half-full, by the way), paracetamol, and a very full bottle of hand sanitizer. Note that I have it on good authority that this was the same guy who wrecked the ceiling fan on purpose.

I am just as confused as you are.

Anyway, cheers!

— Randy.

So thoughts :

I don’t think I’ll be posting up The Tale of Liam and Kate on the site. Looking back through it, I realised how really awful it was. Like good God, AWFUL. If I had thought it otherwise, I probably would be posting it up along with Sin, Chapter 8 today. But when I read through it, I was just like — No. This isn’t going to work.

So I apologize for those who were curious about Liam and Kate. It was meant to be an 8-part story about two youths who go on the run after after accidentally killing someone. But I guess it’s not going to happen now.

The crowd groans and I placate them. In place of a new story altogether, I have decided to continue posting up more chapters of Dark Moon instead. So effective today, Dark Moon will be posted every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I’ll be as consistent as I can but seeing as college will be starting up again soon, I may not be able to meet every single post on time. But I promise, the wait will never be more than a day long. Thanks for sticking with me.

Cheers!

— Randy.

New post : The Viper’s Dance

So I fell asleep at noon. Woke up too damn early. And my post on Inkwell was posted at noon, as per schedule. But there was no schedule for the new Sin chapter and the new Dark Moon chapter so I apologize on that front.

But anyway, they’re up now.

Also I feel the need to reiterate that Dark Moon was written 5 years ago! It was my second novel attempt ever. So it’s rough as all heck. I pray, do not judge my prose now based on it. If you want my better attempts, go to Inkwell, where I have my short story collection. Those are much more palatable than Dark Moon. However, in defence, Dark Moon is at its heart, still a story. And also, it’s still dear to me, even though in retrospect, I really hate the name of the protagonist (Cody Link). But it stay one of my first loves and I choose to honor it by placing it up.

If you want quality, though, head to Inkwell by clicking one of the links above. The Viper’s Dance will take you there, if there is where you be headed. Or the link at the bottom of this post.

Cheers!

Girlfriend read the new short story. She said it wasn’t her thing. To be fair, I was kind of expecting it. This piece didn’t have as much action as the others. It focused more on the things in this one moment rather than having different things happen in different moments.

I’m okay with it though. She didn’t like Water for Elephants either, which is by far, one of the best books I’ve ever read. So it’s pretty clear we have different tastes. She did not read the new Sin chapter either but that’s okay. She’ll read it tomorrow morning. She’s not much of a binge reader.

But anyway, I still think the new short story is pretty good. I may ask my friend, greyfox97 what he thinks. Stories like these are more in his realm than hers.

What else… Yes. I wrote Chapter 11 of Sin today. It is really really short, like half the length of the usual chapters, but I think it’s strong enough to stand as it is. So that’s about it.

Cheers!

No fancy titles today. I just wanted to give you guys an update on what been happening with my writing the last couple of days.

I did not write a new chapter of Sin yesterday but don’t worry, I still have a buffer stock full of chapters to go. Sin is still being posted daily. I’m just saying I didn’t write chapter 11 yesterday. I haven’t written it today either but it’s only six in the evening so I’ll probably get to it tonight.

Also, interesting news. I wrote a new story to be published on Inkwell tomorrow. I can’t publish it yet for two reasons. One, my girlfriend hasn’t read it yet. She is my first reader and my kindest critic. She loves me too much to say mean things. But she always reads them first. Second reason, I passed the noon publishing time. I generally choose to publish my stories at noon because it allows more people to be exposed to the stories.

So my girlfriend will probably read it tonight, along with a new chapter of Sin (she’s ahead of you guys on that one too) and tomorrow at noon, assuming I’m not otherwise indisposed, I will post the new story on Inkwell.

Cheers!

It’s Alive! … Maybe.

New short story : The Cavern Below

I wrote this new story yesterday in a hurried frenzy. The idea caught me and I just couldn’t stop until it was done. I knew by the initial tone that not everyone would read it to the end but I don’t mind that. Sometimes you write for yourself and I did just that. I wanted to get it out. And I had such a blast doing it, knowing how it all ends.

In other news, I have posted up the first chapter of Dark Moon on this website. Dark Moon is my baby. It was the first book I wrote when I was 13 to 14 years old. It’s very very amateur work. Any writer will see that right off the bat. But I like to think of it as a first glimpse of some potential. Anyway, I’ll continue posting more and more chapters twice a week. Shouldn’t take too long to get through the entire book, I think. There’s only 25 chapters, each rather long, all things considering.

Also updates on Sin, I’ve written chapter 9 today. I may continue with chapter 10 later tonight. I like to stay ahead of my posts because it gives me some leeway and it allows me to backtrack a little and rewrite continuity errors as I feel the need. Those worried that I don’t know where the story is going can rest assured that I do. I know how it ends. ALSO IMPORTANT : I won’t be around tomorrow morning, afternoon and night, so I’ll be posting chapter 4 at midnight tonight, GMT/UTC+08:00 timezone.

Anything else? Umm. I still have several other short story ideas bubbling in the back of my mind but those will be on the back burner for a while until I feel ready to do something real with them, which may be every week or so. We’ll see.

But all in all, the writing process seems to be going great. The blog is slowly — slowly! — coming to life. But all good things to those who wait … and write.

Cheers!

— Randy.

Fantasy Project, Part 4

It’s been a while since I last mentioned this project. The truth is that I haven’t been doing much with it. But now I just wish to update you guys that I kinda have a map ready. It’s a vague outline of a map for now, simply because I do not have the skills or expertise to draw a map out. But I think I may ask my girlfriend to draw one for me. She is an excellent artist and her style will perfectly suit the map of the world I am building.

Til then, cheers!

Makeover

So in case, you haven’t noticed already, I’ve decided to spruce things up around here. The overall look has changed and so has the purpose of the blog. No longer am I just going to talk about motivating myself regarding the short stories I write over at Inkwell and about my writing progress. Now I aim to write and post actual stories up on this website.

Most of the stories I plan to start posting here are novellas. These should come periodically. Sin, which is already online and ongoing, will likely be published daily until it reaches the end of its course. I plan to follow up on this by posting chapters from two other old stories I wrote entitled “Dark Moon” (written in 2011, likely posting twice a week) and “The Tale of Liam and Kate” (written in 2012, likely once a week).

Of course, I will still be writing short stories for Inkwell. These short stories will only be available there. I will not be posting them here because Inkwell is what gave me my start and I intend to honour that.

Keep an eye on this space for more stories!

— Randy.

Beginnings

I have started work on a new story called Sin. It’s about person who is removed of his memories and forced to examine his life in no great detail as an outsider to redeem himself. His constant companion is an entity named Sin who acts as both the instigator and guide on his path to redemption.

I’m very excited for this project and will be posting chapters every day? every other day? right here on this website. The first chapter is already up. You can begin reading by clicking here.

Cheers!

Hiatus? No

New stories : Melody ; The Island ; Sandman

It has been almost a month since I last wrote on this blog. But rest assured, I was not being lazy. Well, not completely. I wrote four stories — three of which are linked above because I’m proud of them –and I watched like two seasons of The 100 so…

Anyway, know that I am still hard at work on my anthology. There is just over three months left in the year. I hope to create a few more stories to add to the Scarlet anthology before I close shop for the year and begin work on Scarlet II in 2017. Those not in the know for what the Scarlet anthology is about can click here to find out more.

And to those wondering about the fourth story I wrote, it’s titled Writer’s Block and you can read it by clicking the title, though do note that this will not be in the Scarlet anthology. I like it but I don’t like it enough. Sad but true. I’m ruthless.

Cheers!

And Again

New Story : Muse

I wrote this yesterday after seeing a man in a B.U.M. Equipment t-shirt. You’ll understand why I find that last sentence astounding after you read the story linked above. I’ve been told it’s creepy though I really don’t see what the fuss is about. It’s a story about an artist. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!

Two

New Stories : The Thunder Roared and Descent

I have been missing for a couple of weeks. The first week is on me. I take full responsibility for being a lazy writer. I apologize. Also Alvin hasn’t posted anything for weeks so that’s kind of downer on the spirit. But I shouldn’t be relying on others to make me a writer. So it’s still on me.

The second week was because I was on vacation with some friends in Langkawi Island. So that was five days of booze and games and not a whole lot of productive.

Sorry about that. Wait. No, not really. I need breaks.

But I wrote two pieces today. I’m not very fond of the first and the second may need to be improved, seeing as how my girlfriend wasn’t the least bit scared or anything. [voluntary sigh]

But either way, I hope I’ll step up my game as the days draw on.

Till the next time.

— Randy.

Absence

New story : In the Dark

So I have been off the grid for a little while. I  don’t think that’s a bad thing. I mean, I do have a life, you know?

*cough* binge watching Game of Thrones *cough*

But I always come back here in the end. And I always have a present to give. So up above, I give to you my latest creation about demons in the dark. Follow the link above to read the story.

Cheers!
